We have a new Adopt-A-Pond Coordinator!!

We want to welcome Leanne, our new coordinator. She just completed her second week on the job at Adopt-A-Pond. Leanne comes to us from the Hamilton Conservation Authority where she was a Watershed Stewardship Technician. There she led outreach programs to help landowners use green infrastructure on their properties to reduce the negative impacts of stormwater run-off. She also has experience conducting water quality assessments as the Watershed Monitoring Technician with the Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Authority and carried out the Stormwater Monitoring Program for the Town of Richmond Hill. Previously, she completed her Master of Environmental Science at the University of Toronto. In this program she investigated the use of phosphorus-removing media to reduce the frequency and impact of algae blooms in freshwater lakes. She is passionate about conservation, biodiversity and resource management issues and sharing this knowledge with the public to inspire and catalyze change. We are quite excited to have Leanne on board and look forward to continued success with her leading our Adopt-A-Pond Wetland Conservation Programme!
